What is Costcodle?

I run costcodle.net as a written archive around the daily game. The game itself is played on costcodle.com, which Zachary Kermitz publishes from the KermWasTaken/costcodle repository. We are not Costco Wholesale and we are not the developer. Mail for this website goes to [email protected].
How the game started
GitHub records the repository creation at 2023-09-21T15:00:24Z. The same calendar day is hard-coded as costcodleStartDate. The readme and the page overlay credit Wordle and Tradle as the pattern, and they credit the Costco Food Database for names, prices, and photos. The license file is MIT. I last confirmed those facts on 2026-09-30. GitHub listed the latest push as 2025-10-15.

Names people type instead
I keep seeing the same game under other spellings: costodle, coscodle, costle, costdle, costcolde, cosctodle, costcotle, costordle, costocdle, costcodile, cstcodle, costvodle, costcordle, costcodke, and costcoldle. They refer to this price game. costco wordle and costco price wordle do too, and that search has its own page. I do not build a separate page for each spelling.
